Arrest History in San Miguel County
An arrest can create four connected records. The arresting agency writes the incident or probable-cause report. The San Miguel County jail creates a booking and custody entry. LiveScan fingerprints can create or update a CBI arrest cycle. The prosecutor and Combined Courts create a case only when charges are filed. Each record has its own custodian and purpose.
The San Miguel County Sheriff, Telluride Marshal's Department, Mountain Village Police Department, Colorado State Patrol, and other authorized agencies may make arrests. Norwood contracts law enforcement to the Sheriff as of 2025. A report made by a city department remains with that department even if the person was booked at the county jail. The jail record proves a custody event, not guilt.

The official page shows which report category and date were selected. Its preliminary entries may change as an investigation and court case move forward.
The Current Inmate List is generated Monday through Thursday. It may not reflect a new weekend booking, an overnight release, or a fast bond. Call the jail at 970-728-1911 for current status.
How to Look Up San Miguel County Arrests
No single channel answers every arrest question. Start with the source closest to the event and move outward. Keep the date, booking number, arresting agency, and court abbreviation so staff can distinguish people with similar names.

- Search the San Miguel court docket after filing, then ask the Combined Court Clerk for the complaint or disposition. Filed charges may differ from booking allegations.

San Miguel Arrest Agency Routes
The jail does not become the records office for every agency that delivers a person there. Ask the creator for the incident report and the Sheriff for the separate booking record. This is one of the most common causes of an incomplete request.

Protected victim data, juvenile information, medical or security details, and active investigative material may be withheld or redacted. The county does not publish an official mugshot gallery.
San Miguel LiveScan Arrest Cycle
Booking includes identity and warrant checks, property intake, a photograph, and LiveScan fingerprints. In the Seventh Judicial District, LiveScan is the main route to obtain a State Identification Number, including when a person was summoned and the court later orders prints. CBI matches those biometrics in its system and stores the Colorado criminal-history cycle.

Reporting can lag. A local report may exist before CBI shows the arrest, and a final disposition may arrive later. The public ICHC result also excludes sealed records and specified juvenile and young traffic arrests.
Recent Arrests and Booking Logs
San Miguel County's weekly Booking Summary offers the quickest official look at recent jail events. The Current Inmate List is narrower because it focuses on people still held when the report is generated. Media summaries describe selected deputy activity, and calls reports compare activity categories. None is an official crime-rate dataset.
A name missing from a current roster proves little about past custody. The person may have bonded, been released, transferred, appeared in an older report, or never entered this jail. A booking entry also may precede the court filing. Save the report date and follow the case number when one becomes available.
Note: San Miguel County activity reports are dated preliminary snapshots, not a permanent statewide arrest history or a finding of guilt.
Requesting San Miguel Arrest Records
Sheriff Administrative Records handles Sheriff investigations, non-criminal activity, inmate information, and audio or video. Submit a narrow request through the Criminal Justice Record Request page or email records@sanmiguelsheriff.org. Include the incident number if known, the date and place, involved names, and the precise item sought. State-issued identification authenticates the signature, and the requester signs the C.R.S. section 24-72-305.5 pecuniary-gain statement.
The page states that most records are delivered by email. CCJRA allows the custodian to weigh access against privacy and law-enforcement interests.

San Miguel Bond and Release
Bonds may be posted at the Sheriff's Office at any time. The official Jail Bonds page explains the local process and links readers back to court records. A bond shown in a booking report must still be confirmed. Holds, court action, or a data delay can affect release.
The county states that release ordinarily occurs within six hours after a qualifying personal-recognizance bond is set and the person returns to jail, or after a cash bond is set, the person returns, and the jail is told the bond is ready. Extraordinary circumstances can extend that time.
For immediate status, call 970-728-1911. Do not infer that a blank bond field means the person can leave, and do not use a stale PDF to plan a pickup.
Arrests vs Convictions
An arrest record documents an allegation and custody event. A conviction requires a guilty plea or verdict and a court judgment. The prosecutor may decline a case, amend charges, or dismiss a count. An acquittal also ends without a conviction.

Note: An arrest is not proof of guilt, and a San Miguel County booking allegation may never become a filed charge.

After San Miguel County Jail
A person sentenced to state custody may leave the county roster and appear in CDOC Offender Search. The official Colorado Department of Corrections locator covers people in CDOC custody or supervision. It is not a search for every county arrest.
The state locator becomes relevant after transfer. A DOC incarceration event may also appear in CBI history as a sentence event, not as a new arrest. For current county detention, keep using the jail line and Sheriff's dated reports.
County custody, state prison custody, parole supervision, and a past arrest are separate statuses. Check the date and agency on each result. If state and county sources seem to conflict, call the jail for a fresh status, then read the court sentence to see whether transfer was ordered. This sequence helps distinguish an update delay from a new release or custody event.
